The Spanish band, Crystal Fighters will be performing at the El Rey Theatre on Tuesday, June 4. The band’s music often reflects vocalist Laure Stockley’s grandfather’s diary of stories, helping to create a fusion of dance and folk all in one. Just released this week, songs off their second album Cave Rave will be expected, including their single “You & I.” Their use of Basque instruments such as the txalaparta (a wooden type of xylophone), pipe and tabor make listeners feel like they’re part of a cultural experience. You’re bound to bounce like the the bun lying atop of lead singer Sebastian Pringle’s head. We caught them last year at the Echoplex, and now another opportunity has come! Supporting the band will be Alpine.
