This past Saturday, everyone’s favorite crime-fighting superhero band, the Aquabats, took over the El Rey for an all ages holiday show. The Aquabat Cadet Faction was in full effect as the band played songs from Charge!! , their first full length album in six years. Starting off the show was bay area punk band, Emily’s Army. Consisting of Joey Armstrong, brothers, Max and Cole Becker, and Travis Neumann — the band had the crowd singing along to their brand of punk a la Stiff Little Fingers and the Clash. Next up was former Groovie Ghoulie frontman, Kepi and his solo project simply named Kepi Ghoulie. Due to hazardous driving conditions on the Grapevine, Kepi’s bass player couldn’t make the show, so they recruited the help of Aquabats guitarist, Eagle “Bones” Falconhawk. Kepi embraced the holiday spirit and tossed wrapped presents into the crowd. It was a fun holiday rock show for everyone!
