Joe- Jerome

Joel Jerome is a name that’s quickly rising in the underground music scene, although the talented singer-songwriter / producer has been around for quite some time, this dude is a diamond in the rough. Most commonly know as the frontman of Dios and Joel Jerome & Babies On Acid, Jerome has also curated sounds for Hedi Slimane’s YSL SS14 as well as producing acts like Cherry Glazer and Le Sera. His name has graced our Web pages countless times and we expect to see him emblazoned across them more often.

What do you get someone who has everything? Joel Jerome’s “Everybody Wants Somebody” is in flux with this quandary. He sings, “I have all that I need / and now that I have it I don’t want anymore!”  But something is hiding below the surface, as the seven-minute track proves. What Joel Jerome’s speaker needs, though he is to shy to admit it in public, is “somebody new.” Just as everybody who has ‘everything’ still won’t be satisfied until they have the most affluent and elusive of possessions: someone to share it with.

As the track progresses Jerome creeps deeper into a hermetic state. The sun shine at the start of the song dwindles away to lightly strummed whispers, the drums descend to a drizzling ride. The most lonely of instruments, the Lap Steel, makes its appearance right on cue, complete with desperado whistles. To cap it all off we have a saxophone full of longing to carry us into the horizon.

Stream the premiere of Joel Jerome’s first single “Everybody Wants Somebody” off of his debut album Psychedelic Thrift Store Folk. The album is currently slated for a September 30th release via Manimal Records.
