This last Wednesday, veteran avant-rock band, Blonde Redhead played a sweet and sublime set at the Fonda Theatre. After over 20 years of performing and nine albums later, the trio has gone from noise guitar rock to a more atmospheric electronic sound which had the packed Fonda captivated. The older crowd was so immersed in the music that they forgot to take out their cellphones. I’m so used to seeing a sea of touch screens being held up, the lack thereof was startling.

Opening up the night was the always impressive Dot Hacker. Fronted by RHCP guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer, the band performed a much more subdued set, filled with songs from their latest How’s Your Process? EP series which really set the mood for Blonde Redhead.
