Roky Erickson takes The Roxy on a psychedelic trip down memory lane

Being a fan of The 13th Floor Elevators and too young to have had the opportunity to see them live, I was more than excited to see Roky Erickson at The Roxy this past Friday. He played with his son’s band, The Hounds of Baskerville. Roky’s son, Jegar, with his theatrical and rock ‘n’ blues inspired sound was a pleasure to experience live.

The legendary Roky Erickson has gone through tough times in his life but at 67 years, he’s still got it, lyric-after-lyric. Roky looked happy to be performing in front of punks, metal heads, and those who grew up listening to him when psychedelic rock was on the rise.
