Los Angeles rock duo, Deap Vally have released the Kraken. And by that we mean they have revealed the fierce new video for their new song “Royal Jelly.” Just like Deap Vally, the video is badass. Shot at one of our favorite Los Feliz haunts, the Good Luck Bar, the video is crafted with a vibrant pop-art aesthetic. If Andy Warhol ever made it to the digital age, he probably would have created something similar. The sexy slow-rockin’ video features designer/model/fashion icon Georgia May Jagger (yes, she’s Mick Jagger’s daughter), as well as a cameo by Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner (who also produced “Royal Jelly”). The song is slow moving, but powerful with moments of thrashin’ intensity. It sounds like something you would hear from Alison Mosshart (The Kills, The Dead Weather), but it’s not. It’s all Deap Vally and it sounds sensational.

Directed by visual artist Jess Holzworth and featuring brilliant colors and face and body paint by make-up visionary Isamaya Ffrench, “Royal Jelly” is all about female empowerment. To top it all off, drummer Julie Edwards was five months pregnant when the video was shot!

Dear Vally’s forthcoming album, produced by Nick Zinner is set for release sometime in 2016. Judging by the sounds of “Royal Jelly” it’s looking to be their best album yet.

To celebrate the release of “Royal Jelly,” Deap Vally are throwing a party on Nov. 16 with performances by Deap Vally and Liphemra and featuring special guests Nick Zinner, Peaches, White Lung and more. Trust, you don’t want to miss out on this one.
