New Order at Shrine Auditorium

New Order‘s tenth full-length and first album in ten years, Music Complete, is one that fans had been waiting for, or perhaps not expecting at all. In the ’80s New Order became one of the most influential bands, merging rock and electronic dance music. With Music Complete the band set out to make a solid dance-pop album. The crowd reaction at the Shrine Auditorium on Saturday night is a clear indication they succeeded, and were welcomed with ecstatic praise. The band performed songs both old and new, that to which many had the room singing along with famed vocalist Bernard Sumner. Throughout their set the background screens displayed scenic visuals and pieces of the band’s music videos. Before leaving us for the night, Sumner and the band came out once more for an encore starting with Joy Division hits “Atmosphere,” “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” and ending with New Order’s classic “Blue Monday.”
