Autolux at Constellation Room

Autolux at Constellation Room

Over the weekend, Los Angeles’ Autolux played an incredible 15-song set in the Observatory’s intimate Constellation Room. The L.A. trio started their set on a slower tone with “Reappearing” from their latest album Pussy’s Dead. With deep synth and bass layers, and delicate vocals the song immediately set the tone for the evening. The compelling imagery projected across the backdrop and the members of Autolux intensified their already powerful tunes.

Fans in the room were quite elated when Autoflux played “Soft Scene.” The combination of the riveting synths, guitar, bass, and drummer Carla Azar’s vocals and precise drumming had everyone in the Constellation Room in a trance just two songs in. Although, the set consisted mostly of songs off their latest record, they did play a sweet selection of earlier material from their glowing catalog. Songs like “Future Perfect” and “Transit Transit” changed the mood from experimental rock to a more shoegaze vibe with lead vocals from bassist Eugene Goreshter. Carla, Eugene and multi-instrumentalist Greg Edwards continue to shred throughout the rest of the set that eventually came to an end with “Turnstile Blues” and encores “The Science of Imaginary Solutions” and “Blanket”.

If you have never experience the aural and visual greatness that is Autolux, it’s a live show experience you need to add to your list now.
