Shoegaze pioneers, Lush played a nostalgic set for long time fans at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood this past Saturday night. It was magical seeing these legends take the stage and perform in a new era; an era in which so many modern acts have taken some serious cues from Lush.
Lush took fans on a dream pop journey tantalizing the crowd with songs from their new Blind Spot EP, as well as playing the classics that longtime fans had been pining for. It was the most satisfying feeling hearing how well they performed older songs like “De-Luxe” and “Breeze” off their influential shoegaze album Gala. Even their newest single “Out of Control” maintains that same Lush sound from the 90’s. It wasn’t some washed up, overproduced redemption single from a band that’s been out of the game for a while. Front woman Miki Berenyi and the gang delivered a beautiful set full of charming vocals, glimmering guitar haze, and authentic shoegaze style.
