The Diamond Light at The Satellite

Clear your calendar because Mondays in May should be spent at The Satellite in Silverlake. The Diamond Light have risen from the ashes and this phoenix shines bright. Joining original members singer/guitarist Griffin Young and drummer Ian Ochs on this residency are superb guitarist, Spencer Trent, who has made the rounds with The Mowgli’s and special guest, Nate Light-bass god, formerly of The Janks. This configuration is just magical and there is no reason not to see them as Mondays at the Satellite are FREE! The whole month is dazzling but the first Monday of the month certainly got things started with a brilliant bang.

Opening in the dreaded 9pm slot (yes they actually went on at 9 so get there early) were Orange County favs Well Hung Heart who made sure to get everyone’s attention with prowess and blue coiffed lead singer Greta Valenti’s in your face crowd involvement. Well Hung Heart is another band with a super solid line up including now mega bearded Robin Davey on guitar and never beared Danielle Lehman on bass with Lyle Riddle previously of Terraplane Sun on Drums.

The 10pm slot was manned by trio Robbery Inc made up of band members singer/guitarist Robb Torres, drummer Matt Camgros and Jonah Wei-Haas who covers the bass end via keys. The group fit right into this guitar rock focused evening.

Finally, the late night slot was filled with Zachary Kibbee who has had a lot of his music being placed on TV and ads as of late. Zach’s band recently lost their bass player so Zach has taken over that duty with the ever memorable wild card Gene Louis on drums and sunset strip incarnate Felipe Rodrigo on guitar.

TONIGHT, Monday, May 8 — The Diamond Light will be joined by the gear climbing Down and Outlaws from San Fransisco and LA locals Easyfriend. May 22 brings the lovelies of Ivory Deville out from wherever they have been hiding and the bonus Monday May 29 is yet to be announced so stay tuned.
