In support of his new ablum “Cosmogramma,” not to mention all the hot buzz he’s been receiving since Coachella, Flying Louts (aka Steven Ellison) came out to play two sold-out shows at the Echoplex a couple weekends ago. Fans who came to his show on Saturday, May 15, 2010 were in a for a real treat as Flying Lotus not only performed his experimental, trip-hop beats that he’s infamously known for, but he also played with a live band at this very special show!

Supported by a stellar line-up of musicians, Flying Lotus put on an epic set with: bassist Thundercat (Erykah Badu, Suicidal Tendencies), harpist Rebekah Raff (daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra), drummer Jerry Gibbs (Alice Coltrane), Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Suite for Ma Dukes) on viola and keys, Laura Darlington (Daedelus) on flute and vocal, and Evan Voytas on guitar. Even more smooth, Flying Lotus was also joined by opening act, saxophone player Ravi Coltrane. Although Flying Lotus brings the musical magic with his pure genius with his Macs and keyboards, the live band enhanced the show all for the better.

I kind of feel bad for the peeps that attended Friday’s show, they missed out on a truly special Flying Lotus performance.
