Bringing their lovely, symphonic waves of sound all the way down from San Francisco to grace the Glass House in Pomona, Geographer was more than a special opening treat. Supporting the evening’s headliner, Stars and co-openers The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Geographer was an early act not to be missed (and if you missed it, sucks to be you). Front-man Mike Deni’s choir boy-like vocals are absolutely enchanting and at times can throw you in a video game warp once he mixes in those dreamy synths. Combined with Brian Ostreicher’s soft and steady drums that tiptoe with decadent rolls through out your body (but at times can be quite bangin’ and full of head nods), Geographer is the perfect trio to see live whether you love electro-pop that will get you movin’ or the calm sweet sounds of the symphony. Blaz’s graceful skills on the electric cello are magnificent and give Geographer the appeal of something more than just another indie band. It gives them that classy orchestra feel that tends to fuel a great emotion … it’s just beautiful.
Ever since the release of their single “Kites” and most recently their “Animal Shapes” EP, Geographer has been buzzing with hotness. We expect their next full length to be something spectacular and soon to put them in the spot as a headlining act.
