The king of French raggasalsa, who was actually deep in the 80s French punk scene with Ludwig Von 88, has made his name as Sergent Garcia since 1997 exploding with all the goodness of Latin rhythms. Los Angeles was graced last Wednesday, Aug. 31 with a bombastic performance by Sergent Garcia at The Roxy. Supporting Garcia were the B-Side Players and Quinto Sol. As you can imagine, with all this Latin flavor — it was a hot, sexy night full of booty shakes and hip swagger. Garcia brought that sweet Latin reggae as though not a day had passed from his early beginnings. With the room buzzing to an exotic sampling of various brass instruments and percussion, the man was on fire and the crowd definitely felt the heat. Paired to aural perfection with the high energy sounds of Quinto Sol and B-Side Players, both strong in their reggae ska influences, the crowd danced their asses off the entire evening.
