I stumbled across the Peach Kings back in April while listening to their songs via Sonicbids for the House of Blues New Music Nights—an evening of music I was curating for Sonicbids. Although I had chosen the Peach Kings as one of my top three bands to be featured in this showcase, my selection got vetoed for another band that took their place. I bet whoever made that veto, feels pretty stupid now because the Peach Kings are damn good and are starting to get the attention they deserve.

The dapper Los Angeles duo, Paige Wood and Steven Dies exude a classic sound reminiscent of the roaring ’20’s, speakeasy elegance paired with the sexy strut of soulful blues. Late last year they won an unsigned artist competition thrown by Paste Magazine and Alternative Apparel. A few weeks ago, KCRW featured the band on their music blog and started playing some of their music.

The sultry duo describes their music as “gypsydelic,” but we describe it as absolutely delicious. With a suitable name, the Peach Kings’ music is full of juicy rhythms and sweet lyrics that hit a succulent chord inviting you in for more. You can stream the Peack Kings’ new EP, Trip Wop via their bandcamp.

Check out our photos below of the Peach Kings at the Bootleg Bar. They were even better live!
