Last night, Cold War Kids, supported by Superhumanoids, played a sold out show at the Fonda. Superhumanoids drove the crowd crazy as a perfect opening act. The beautiful thing Cold War Kids succeeded at doing was bringing the audience together musically. It’s all too common now a days to go to a concert where there’s the typical drunk jerk who’s pushing everyone trying to get on stage. Or the selfish people who take pictures of themselves during the performance. As well as the people who hold their phones the whole time so they can take shitty cell phone pictures — with the bright LCD screen providing an irritating distraction. At the Cold War Kids show, everyone was getting together in musical harmony. There were people drinking, but no one being over the top and rude. There were pictures being taken on phones, but people were not being sucked into using them the whole time. In my opinion, this is what a good concert is meant to be. They are events where strangers become one entity brought together by the love of music, and that music last night was the Cold War Kids.
