In celebration of St. Paddy’s Day, we decided to dedicate an entire blog post to The Strypes. The Irish indie blues rockers absolutely blew minds at SXSW, especially ours. The Strypes are a powerhouse four-piece rhythm and blues band hailing from Cavan, Ireland, formed in 2011 by Ross Farrelly (lead vocals/harmonica), Josh McClorey (lead guitar/vocals), Pete O’Hanlon (bass guitar/harmonica) and Evan Walsh (drums). Not only are they totally cute and charming, but these Irish lads tear shit up! If you’re down with Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin’ Wolf, and Little Walter — you’ll love these no-nonsense blues hellions, who by the way are an adorable 18 years of age and under!
We’re bummed we missed their L.A. debut at the Troubadour this past January, but we’re definitely gonna dance it up with them at their upcoming El Rey Theatre performance on March 31st. We highly recommend you do too. Grab tickets here!
