British shoegaze stalwarts, Slowdive was one of the more anticipated sets of Saturday at FYF Fest 2014, and their most recent leg of their long overdue reunion was met with lots of praise.

The band certainly lives up to their name. Listening to their music feels like you’re high-diving into the ocean in slow-motion. As FYF Fest attendees recovered from many hours of being beaten down by the sun, Slowdive’s set gave them an opportunity to lick their wounds and recharge for the final push of the first day.

It was the one set that you saw more people sitting down on The Lawn and enjoying the process of digesting the music (and rolling many, many joints). Each song flowed so brilliantly into the next, that it all felt like an one hour-long masterpiece.

Vocalist and guitarist Rachel Goswell looked like an angel, decked out in a sparkly all-white outfit. The set served as a nice counter-punch to many of the other acts of the day. It can’t be said enough that it was just unbelievably relaxing, and it is evident the band hasn’t missed a beat since putting out their last album nearly 20 years ago.
