Sometimes it’s pretty cool when you don’t have enough writers credentialed at FYF Fest to cover the entire event. Why? Because we get to pluck our favorite Tweets and Instagrams from the fans themselves. That’s exactly what we did for Deafheaven’s moving and memorable performance. Our photographer had covered both of their FYF shows, but our writer didn’t make it in time since The Strokes went on late. Needless to say, some hadcore Deafheaven fans had some very poetic things to say about their set. Here’s what FYF fans had to say about Deafheaven’s closing set:
Photography: Monique Hernandez
“Best performance was Deafheaven which closed out the night and since most people were at The Strokes, the crowd was small but intense. The entire crowd as a pit, but as the great Martin Luther King once said: ‘pit or be pitted.'” ~ @Crandall1987
“My Man Crush Monday is this soul-sucking basilisk sex god, George Clark of Deafheaven. I got to hold him while he laid upon the front row and unleashed his high pitched death growl, transforming me into a banshee. Well done, sir.” ~ @Zozook
“Shout out to Deafheaven for eternally slaying my soul and to the glorious George Clark for throwing me the mic while I was crowdsurfing. Perfect end to FYF.” ~ @Roddygoo
“Deafheaven was insanity. So beat up and so worth it.” ~ @Annalisewalker
“Honestly, I’m always impressed by this band (Deafheaven).” ~ @isitreallysostrange24
