It’s likely a fair amount of people that saw The Blood Brothers’ reunion at FYF Fest on Sunday night sustained some injuries — but it is equally fair to assume that the bloodshed was worth it.

“I had been trying to get them for two and a half years,” FYF’s Sean Carlson told the LA Times earlier in the week. “I’m so, so happy that they’re doing this at FYF.”

Carlson’s long coaxing of the influential punk band paid major dividends as the Seattle band put together a potent and nostalgia-inducing sixteen-song set. Though they ended a seven-year hiatus, there was no evident rust and they took longtime fans on a journey that they’ll remember for a long time.

“Set Fire to the Face of Fire” and “Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck” were just two of the standout moments from a set that had FYF staff security at their busiest. There was lots of moshing and crowd surfing by a number of well-past hammered and enthusiastic fans.

If you asked around, it was the highlight of the festival of a large percentage of festival attendees, particularly in the 25-40 age range.

The hope for all is that the band will stick together long enough to play their own gig in the LA-area. Anyone who saw them at FYF can’t help but want more.
