Los Angeles’ own hardcore punk rockers The Bronx kicked off a string of sets at The Trees stage at FYF Fest on Sunday that would get rowdier and rowdier. Serving as a lead-in to Murder City Devils and The Blood Brothers, the set built to an awesome crescendo that featured a rather rambunctious mosh pit.
Though I only caught the tail-end of their set, it was clear to see that it was quite a rager as lead vocalist Matt Caughthran tried to set a record for “motherf*ckers” dropped in a 40-minute window. They took the energy that Presidents of the U.S.A. had built at the end of their set and ran with it.
The Bronx certainly proved one thing: they’ve got a loyal local following as they had a sizable crowd despite going head-to-head against nostalgia-laced Built to Spill.
