Thundercat fyf 2014 photos

Los Angeles-based bass guitar extraordinaire, Thundercat’s FYF Fest set was filled with incredible solos on Sunday later afternoon, but the former Suicidal Tendencies member showed there is much, much more to him than the metal stylings of his former band.

Stephen Bruner lived up to the Thundercat moniker, donning a sweet fur animal hat of sorts to go along with some track pants that probably were hotter than balls. At least Bruner said as much when he asked for a bottle of water because “it’s getting dry up here.” Bruner’s brother Ronald Bruner Jr. was fantastic on the drums as well, setting things up nicely for his brother to knock them down.

For those nerds out there (and I count myself one of you), Thundercat played the ending theme to the American cartoon “Adventure Time”, which was a bit unexpected but awesome.

Bruner certainly has opened things up artistically with his solo endeavor, endearing himself to a wider range of fans since releasing his second solo effort last year. His music is something to be experienced live and it is clear that though Thundercat has been in the game for years, his rise is only just beginning.
