Straight from London, UK, Monarchy blessed the Echoplex with their groovy synth-pop hooks this Thursday to instill the spirit of dance in the West Coast before the summer’s end. Earlier on, M83’s multi-instrumentalist Jordan Lawlor dropped onto the stage with his new electronic solo project, J. Laser.

The Los Angeles local launched a unique mix of electro, R&B and psychadelia-based songs, complete with steadfast stage presence and fierce musicianship between just Lawlor on vocals and guitar, and brother Jamie on drums. The set included “Dreamphone”, their bubbling new single, which was released via the band’s SoundCloud.

Later, Monarchy took the stage clad in monochrome robes, masks and face paint like an electro-pop Phantom of the Opera scene. Their ultramodern dance beats paired with majestic melodies had a swarming crowd singing along word for word, including recent hit singles “Disintegration” and “Living Without You.” The blissful set also included covers of Lana Del Ray’s “Video Games” and a killing cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium” to close, both reimagined by their electronic dance production. In promotion of their Almost Human EP released just last week, Monarchy continues herding die-hard fans across the US, all the way from their hometown of London.
