Hitting the stage clad in black with a sexy and playful goth appeal, Dum Dum Girls hit the DIY stage at The Well for Red Bull Sound Select’s #30DaysInLA series sounding absolutely sensational. Intoxicating with their every swagger, fans couldn’t help but be mesmerized by their stylish beauty and fantastic sound. Leading lady, Dee Dee sang with hints of Chrissie Hynde in her voice, working the stage with style and passion. The band’s presence was even more intensified with an electrifying tone as the room was fully lit with blue hanging light bulbs. It truly set a great ambient for such a stunning performance.
Tapioca and the Flea opened up for Dum Dum Girls. With a few preliminary hiccups in their set
(started a song off cue and then during another a beat was lost in the middle) the band played through their set like pros regardless if the crowd grew restless from a couple woes. We’ve seen Tapioca numerous times and the guys always put on rockin’ good time.
Out of Toronto, Canada, Lowell made her entrance donning a pink hoodie. This performance was not without technical difficulties either. Her keyboard lost power and they had to step down for a bit to fix it. She took it well however, mentioning that one of her pet peeves is having to start over so she opted to skip the song. She had no problem interacting with the crowd, she jumped the barricade and climbed up the stage and then eventually went into the crowd. Lowell never eased up in her energy and maintained engagement with her crowd.
