Roses band

This past Sunday we ventured to the Bootleg HiFi to check out Roses’ free November residency. The trio comprised of Marc Steinberg on vocals and keys, Juan Velasquez (of Abe Vigoda) on Guitar and Victor Harrera on Bass, sounded great live. With tight arrangements, Roses exuded some catchy pop and 80s influences. Marc Steinberg’s vocals were a unique treat and reminded me of Bernard Sumner of New Order. If you have yet to check out Roses live, we highly recommend you hit their final free residency night at the Bootleg HiFi this Sunday, November 27. They are definitely a band that will make you feel good by the time you leave the show.

Opening act, Hair Perfect came out clad in Hawaiian shirts on and played their music, but it seemed as though Hair Perfect has not quite found their place yet. Most of the music was a bit off key and the band was just not musically in sync or tight. Needless to say, with more practice, these guys have some potential. Their song called “Homecoming” did in fact rock and fans began to feel the vibes and start dancing.

Also from Los Angeles were opening act, Crystales. These guys were a delight live. Blending shoegaze with their own “Spanish” surf-pop sounds, Crystales definitely had a little flair to their sound. Their arrangements were harmonious and definitely held my attention as well as the sizeable crowd that arrived early to check them out.

Take a look at the photos below of Roses with Hair Perfect and Crystales at the Bootleg HiFi.
