Lagwagon
Lagwagon

It felt like 1995 at the Fonda Theatre this last Saturday night… well at least to me it did. Having grown up around the California punk scene in the mid to late 90s, bands like Lagwagon and Swingin’ Utters were bands that you inevitably saw on the regular. Besides the fact that everybody is a bit older, not much has changed over the years. You still have the same So Cal “bros” mixed in with a few gutter punks moshing and crowd surfing while singing along with EVERY SINGLE SONG.

Opening the show to a small yet growing crowd was garage punk band, Toy Guitar. Relieved that there was more than five people in the crowd when the curtains went up, Toy Guitar had the crowd inching closer and closer to the stage. Western Addiction was up next and blasted through an old school hardcore set that was reminiscent of R.K.L, setting the mood for veteran punk rockers, Swingin’ Utters. Between Swingin’ Utters and Lagwagon, it was a classic night of that classic Fat Wreck Chords sound. Both bands played ALL the hits along with a healthy mix of new stuff.
