Los Angeles might be out of the heat wave for now, giving place to storms very well felt through its incoming live music. Last night, The Echoplex was bursting with explosive music delivering two heavy hitters in one night. The party crew Malabomba brings the wildest pan-global international music parties in The City of Angels and for their 50th they lined up L.A.’s afrobeat band Mexico68 and Brooklyn’s bhangra by Red Baraat.

Mexico68 started the night with an energetic crowd vibing to the sounds influenced by the father of Afrobeat, Fela Kuti sprinkled with Chicano Funk. Bursting with energy, the New Yorker’s Red Baraat took over the stage with heavy dhol sounds by band leader, Sunny Jain. This band blends the North Indian rhythm Bhangra with a host of sounds, namely go-go, jazz and funk and are currently on tour promoting their new album Gaadi of Truth. Too much heat in one night and we can’t wait to see what summer brings.
