They got a warm up gig at The Roxy out of the way last week, and legendary British shoegaze band Ride was on top of their game at Coachella on Friday.

The Roxy gig was the first of theirs in 20 years and they were one of the auspiciously few reunion acts on this year’s bill. Despite playing to a smaller crowd than deserved in the Gobi tent, Ride rocked it like they were mainstage headliners.

Pavers of the shoegaze road, Ride showed why they brought that sound to the forefront. “Leave Them All Behind” and “Vapour” were favorites of the crowd.

It’s a shame that reunion acts have taken a backseat in recent bookings of the festival — no doubt due to the smaller crowds they’ve been getting.
