Father John Misty

Josh Tillman aka Father John Misty put a lot of effort into making one female fan named Amy’s entire year, but his performance also went a long way to being a highlight of many people’s Saturday at Coachella,

Halfway through his set, he brought Amy on stage and had her surrounded by women with pasties and “Eyes Wide Shut” masks as he sang her a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “I’m Your Man” on one knee. Does it get any better than that?

Tillman’s deadpan and dry sarcasm punctuated almost every song. “Oh yeah, this one brings the house down,” Tillman said about “Bored in the USA.”

Behind Tillman was a red backdrop that read “no photography,” which couldn’t have possibly been enforced. People snapped away at Tillman as he danced around the stage performing.

Father John Misty was a nice alternative to the dance-crazed acts that were taking place across many stages nearby, and there will always be more room for performances of the like in the desert.
