A lot of the headlines that come out of Coachella tend to be who the special guests in a given day were. One of the best from Sunday? Comedian Eric Andre coming on stage during psych-folk rocker Mac DeMarco’s early afternoon set and shaking a comically-sized dildo for a few minutes before proclaiming he just turned 13 years old.
DeMarco wore his signature overalls despite Sunday carrying the most heat of the weekend, and he crowd surfed towards the end of the set. The crowd dropped DeMarco, perhaps arms tired from the first two days of madness in the desert.
DeMarco is a hell of a live show and he was one of a handful of artists who graduated from last year’s FYF Fest to Coachella with a considerable bang. The crowd was probably most into the song “Together” — one fan even made the point that the chorus had an eerie similarity to the Lion King’s “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” It had massive singalong value.
DeMarco certainly charmed his way into many more hearts with his inaugural Coachella performance.
