One thinks he would have been better attended had the Coachella schedule simply read “Drummer for Radiohead,” but despite playing to a rather sparse crowd at the Gobi tent on Sunday, Philip Selway brought to life a stellar set.
You could have counted up all the people in the room by the time he completed his second song, but Selway’s music served as a perfect backdrop as the sun dove behind the palm trees for the final night of the weekend.
The only issue logistically with the set was that it was partially being drowned out by Kaskade mixing things up on the main stage. Luckily, space wasn’t an issue inside the tent and as you moved closer to the stage, you were entranced by Selway’s reverberating bass.
Sets like Selway’s are why it can be key to educate yourself on the lineup before hitting the grounds. A few people throughout the day afterwards were bummed to only then find out his roots.
