Yuna
Yuna takes the stage at Grand Performances on August 8.

Summer in Los Angeles is gearing up to warm your soul with a series of incredible free concerts. At the top of the list of the many free summer concert series is downtown L.A.’s annual Grand Performances. With live music that boasts cultural awareness and socially concuss lyrics, Grand Performances will feature a bevy of live shows heavy on Latin rhythms, hip hop and world music. From the flavorful sounds of Quantic, to the smooth indie pop of Malaysia’s Yuna, there won’t be any wallflowers at Grand Performances. This is music made to make you smile, move and groove.

New to this year, Grand Performances will feature an exclusive WATTSTAX concert retrospective, and the West Coast debut of DICE RAW of The Roots’ “The Last Jimmy: A Hip Hop Musical.” Both highly anticipated events are part of the National Endowment for the Arts-supported series LOS ANGELES AFTERSHOCKS. The series focuses on cultural aftershocks stemming from the 1965 and 1992 riots.

Grand Performances kick off on June 19 with THE GASLAMP KILLER. He’ll be throwing down those fresh hip hop vibes ensuring that the 10-week season gets started proper. Other performances included Mexico 68, Daedelus, Dumpstaphunk, Rocky Dawuni and many more sensational acts. You can view the full concert calendar here.

Grand Performances is free and all ages. All concerts are located at California Plaza at 350 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, CA 9007. Complimentary bike valet is available for select events. The California Plaza parking garage is accessible on Olive Street, between 1st and 4th streets (351 S. Olive Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90013).
