Hiatus Kaiyote
Hiatus Kaiyote

Sold out, highly expected and full of talent are just a few of the characteristics of Wednesday night’s Hiatus Kaiyote show at The Roxy. The spot was packed beginning to end with brilliant opening performances by Los Angeles based Kadhja Bonet and Low Leaf. These amazing females and their soothing powerful voices had their own roster of followers mesmerized since doors opened. Although there were waves of noise coming from the crow’d individual conversation, these talented musicians kept their act together delighting the crowd over-and-over. Low Leaf even made everybody join her in mediation!

The polyrythmic Hiatus Kaiyote came to stage geared up with psychedelic sounds from their just-released new future soul album Choose Your Weapon. This second LP was long awaited and goes from tender to wild. Nai Palm, lead singer joining elements together on stage, was all enchanting smiles with exotic motions of sound from high pitched tunes, to soothing moments.

Life has set me covering shows from Australian musicians lately and it’s been a trip! Hiatus Kaiyote can take you places during their performances, a common denominator I find from that part of the planet.
