Last Thursday, the Twilight Concerts at the Santa Monica Pier kicked off their summer season with a sensational bang! Featuring the iconic funk man, Morris Day (you may remember him as Prince’s rival in Purple Rain) and Los Angeles DJ/producer/musician extraordinaire, Dam-Funk. Warming up the crowd with his delicious serving of boogie and funktronica, Dam-Funk lit a fire under the crowd’s feet. He had them moving and grooving across the pier, and shuffling about in the sand to his electrifying jams (keytar and all). Once Morris Day & The Time hit the stage, the crowd was nice and primed for the soul clap and dance explosion that was about to ensue. It was an incredible way to open up the Twilight Concerts season at the Santa Monica Pier.
