Arriving at the stage for FKA Twigs you could see that everyone was tired and maybe a little weary from the jam packed two-day fest. Most were sitting waiting for the last act of FYF to take the stage. When the lights drew down completely dark and a hushed airy voice came on over the sound system, we new that it was time to stand.

Still no one had come on the stage, only a loop of Twigs’ unmistakable voice gushing out over the crowd like a spell. Then a man’s voice, rapping, then the bass, then flashing lights… and boom! she was there.

Always impressing with her style, Twigs was in a black one-piece and a tribal kimono that was red and glowed in the white lights that shone on her. Every movement she made was in sync with her music. When the beat hit, she moved and positioned herself like a living statue. When the music took a turn, she turned and treated us to another eye catching creation.

Her voice is sweet and hushed, a juxtaposition to the empowering form of her womanhood. I was transfixed by the vulnerability and absolute strength she embodied. This really was THE performance of the day and an incredible way to close out the fest. Strength beauty and music to all. Peace.
