A pathway of fog machines and lights welcomed us to the floor inside the Arena, the only indoor stage at FYF. Inside a massive chandelier of disco balls and a low-lit stage are about the only things you can see. It’s dark and moody, which was a good fit for Lower Dens. Lead singer Jana Hunter said, “I can hardly see you all, but you’re doing ok, right?” A few reassuring screams from the crowd and Hunter rolled into her second song of the set. Even in the daylight hours of the afternoon and tired from the heat we could vibe to the introspective message Lower Dens was laying down. The murky sounds of their music was like a cool breeze on the back of your neck. Wishing to stay longer to cool down more and take a break from the heat, we kicked back and let Lower Dens bathe us in the chill vibe.
