Neon Indian debuts new songs and plays fan favorites at FYF

We literally had to run from UMO to the Main Stage to catch Neon Indian at FYF, even missing the first half of his first song. It didn’t matter though, as soon as we approached the stage you could see Alan Palomo in white pants and a white t-shirt with a black blazer dancing behind his keyboard throwing out the 80’s synth-pop. Turns out we weren’t the only ones late. As the chill synth waves rushed out from the stage fans started running to get to the show.

I had been eagerly anticipating Neon Indian’s set in hopes he’d play “Annie” a single off his next album VEGA INTL. Night School, out October 15th. I got lucky, and song two hit with the familiar jam my ears knew well. I may have screamed “yes” a little too loudly. After, Palomo said, “This is our first live show in three years. We played in Mexico a few days ago and I couldn’t help but think I’ve missed this.” We have missed you too, Neon Indian.

Neon Indian played a solid set of laid-back chill wave grooves that were peppered with new songs all of which really got the crowd excited. Switching between front-man at the mic to dancing behind his keys, Palomo clearly hasn’t lost that magical edge that makes both his music and his live shows a blast to listen to.
