With two powerful performances last Friday night, Club Nokia was submerged in mystical soul infused world that casted funky spells on the audience.

Boston’s funk jam collective Lettuce occupied the space with vigorous brass and heavy solos displaying illustrious funk that could have kept us going for days. With hip hop inspired beats blended with some bombastic funk, the band kept it unique while still staying true to the genre. Lettuce funktified the crowd while performing songs from their latest, and fourth studio album Crush.  The last tracks were lenghty with alluring density which was a perfect transition for the next band.

After Lettuce, Beats Antique took over the stage with the exotic percussionist Zoe Jakes hypnotizing the room. On tour for their new production A Thousand Faces (part 1), an epic two-volume album which follows the stages of mythologist Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey.  The performance was hot, mystical and ahead of its time; a complete multi sensorial experience. We are definitely looking forward to Part 2, soon to be realeased.
