Banks & Steelz at the Roxy
Banks & Steelz brought the fire to the Roxy last night for their highly awaited debut performance. The new musical project between Wu Tang Clan’s RZA and Interpol’s Paul Banks has been all the hype of the late, and it’s no surprise. The unique combination of the two artists intrigued fans from all over, and last night the two musical heavyweights proved that the hype was real.
From the moment Banks & Steelz hit the stage, the sold-out room lit up with excitement. They had the crowd going insane from the jump with the song, “Ana Electronic” up until their very last track “Anything But Words”. With every sound, every lyric and every powerful beat, Banks & Steelz showed so much emotion. By far, Banks & Steelz are one of those acts where their music needs to be experienced live. Sure, the singles that they’ve shared sound great on speakers, but the real magic happens on stage. Both Banks and RZA hold a powerful stage presence and seasoned skills; you can’t help but admire all the musical greatness happening before your eyes.
Banks & Steelz will release their debut record Anything but Words on August 26 via Warner Bros.
Opening up for Banks & Steelz was T.O.L.D. (aka The Order of Life and Death). The brainchild of budding synth-pop purveyor Dan Smith, T.O.L.D. delivered a dynamic performance. Commanding the crowd’s attention with dance hits “Lucifer’s Eyes” and “Masters of Species,” T.O.L.D. wasted no time revving the crowd up with his delicious sounds. After busting his chops in the UK’s underground music scene, it looks like T.O.L.D. is making some serious moves; and we’re not just talking about his move to Los Angeles.
