Atmosphere at Shrine LA

Atmosphere at Shrine LA

The Shrine Los Angeles was the place to be this past Saturday, as infamous Minneapolis bred hip-hop duo Atmosphere  brought their Freshwater Fly Fisherman Tour to the city of Angels in support of their seventh studio album Fishing Blues. Dominating the stage with unique beats and fierce, fiery flows courtesy of producer Ant and his partner in crime rapper/lyricist Slug, Atmosphere fully delivered and then some.

Joining Atmosphere at the Shrine LA were some of hip hop’s most respected underground artists. Atmosphere had everyone there; from Dem Atlas, to Brother Ali and Dilated Peoples to Aesop Rock and Evidence. It was one of the best hip hop gumbos we’ve seen in a while.

Throughout the night the crowd was full of energy, taking in all the hip hop mastery happening before them. Even The Alchemist and Jon Wayne joined in on the action with a surprise performance. The entire event seemed like an endless roll out of first-class hip hop performers.

From the bubbles that floated across the stage for his opening and closing tracks, to the seamless flows — Atmosphere gave the crowd what they came for. They not only played songs from their new album, but they dove headfirst into their classic catalog shining on tracks such as “Fuck You Lucy,” “Shoulda Known,” “Godlovesugly,” and “Sunshine.”
