Band of Horses

Friday night was done oh so right in Pomona this past weekend! Almost serving as a double header we had Warpaint and of course, the evening’s highly anticipated headliner, Band Of Horses.

Kicking off the evening with some fire, were our Los Angeles vixens themselves: Warpaint. Emily, Theresa, Jenny and Stella — holy hell. These girls always prove to us they can make music and make it so well. We just caught their sold-out show at the Fonda in LA in October, and I feel so lucky to have caught them again only two months later. The crowd got pumped with these women yet again with their trance-evoking psych pop. Still slaying us with our favorites such as “Love Is to Die” and “So Good” off their self-titled 2013 record, we continued to receive mesmerizing tuneage off their latest release Heads Up.

The time came for Band of Horses to take stage. Holy smokes! The crowd couldn’t contain their excitement for these wholesomely rad folk-rockers. Frontman, Ben Bridwell happily greeted the fans with a big ol’ wave and the guys began the set with the classic off their Grammy winning record Infinite Arms, “Is There A Ghost?” Without a doubt, the night absolutely took off.

Band Of Horses have shown quite a presence in the industry for many years with their four studio albums. And after about four years spending time with family in South Carolina, the men came back full force! Not to mention the holiday spirit in full swing. In between songs Ben would throw a handful of candy canes into the crowd.

Their latest release Why Are You OK? sure does hit home and reinstates why we love them so. We can’t forget the almost unorthodox enunciation of Ben’s lyricism. The camaraderie between the band is also undeniable and truly connects with one-on-one moments with fans during each song. After a few of our recognizable tracks, we got to jam to the newest single off their record, “Casual Party”. However, this was anything but a casual party. The crowd were so enamored by the men on stage and danced the night away with each other and ended the set swaying lighters in the air to another one of our favorite’s, “The Funeral”. I think it goes without saying that it was a very special night of music.
