This past weekend Shaun White’s annual snowboarding music festival, Air & Style made its return to Los Angeles for a weekend of music and snowboarding at Exposition Park. With the festival hitting Beijing and Innsbruck, Los Angeles was its final destination.
Day 1 of Air & Style had some notable acts such as RKCB, The Shelters and St Lucia, but things started getting lit when the sun went down and Atmosphere took the stage. The crowd went crazy with excitement as soon as he appeared. Fans chanted “God Loves Ugly” repeatedly as the influential rappers laughed and smiled. Atmosphere went on to perform fan favorites and bring a type of energy to the stage that not every artist brings. He kept bouncing back and fourth around the stage while he rapped looking like he was having the time of his life. His energy, without a doubt, was infectious. The vibes were high.
After Atmosphere, came Roc Nation’s recent signee Vic Mensa. Although Vic was about 25 mins late he gave a hell of a performance. Vic emerged from a cloud of smoke with his bright red Vetements hoodie over his face rapping to “Dynasty.” He went on to perform almost all his songs from his latest mixtape There’s A Lot Going On and even performed a new song called “We Could Be Free” off of his forthcoming album.
Chromeo came out playing with bright lights and crazy guitars. At one point Dave 1 even shined a beam of light off of his guitar back into the crowd as he played a solo. Per usual, Chromeo lit up the dance floor and started a party.
Flume ended the night standing behind his glowing cubicle as he played through his set. Fans closed the night dancing to Flume’s fresh electronic beats.
