I closed the “love” month with Buscabulla, a wave of loveliness from Puerto Rico by way of New York. Grimy Goods recently interviewed the duo made up of Raquel Berrios and Luis Alfredo Del Valle, and without a doubt, this was a show not to be missed. With KCRW presenting the sold-out show at the Echoplex, the house was packed with a welcoming diverse crowd strongly driven by Buscabulla’s music.

Buscabulla performed with a full band which brought much joy to the audience. Although their sounds have heavily electronic dance music — the roots of salsa, bachata and even reggaeton could be heard.

Evoking nostalgia with a twist, Buscabulla, performed covers and original material. Salsa classics like Puerto Rican Roberto Roena’s “Tu Loco Loco y Yo Tranquilo” (“You crazy, me chill”) became a dreamy affair. It was not exactly a salsa song like Roena’s, but more of sublime throwback with their touch of electronic sweetness radiating form lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Raquel Berrios.  Their love covers turn into erotic breathtaking melodies while their electro pop welcomes smooth dance moves.  Buscabulla is certainly unique and leaves you looking forward to their future productions. Their latest music EP II is out now.
