The Regent in Downtown Los Angeles lit up last Thursday night for a fiery show headlined by Los Angeles’ very own Shiny Toy Guns and supported by fellow city mate, Kitten.

Opening up the night and getting the vibes flowing, Kitten, led by Chloe Chaidez blew us away with her energy throughout their 45-minute set. Chaidez kicked off the set with “Fall on Me,” a track that is synth heavy and has a 80’s post punk vibe. The voice and style of the young singer is a reminiscent of Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, but Chaidez packs more of a feral punch. During “Like A Stranger,” Chaidez invited a fan to dance on the stage with her; revealing her carefree spirit and lust for life.

Midway through their set the Kitten performed “Father Figure” which transitioned into a George Michael cover of “Careless Whisper.” That wasn’t the only cover that they dished out, towards the end of their stunning set, Kitten performed The Cure’s “Pictures of You” flawlessly. With Chloe Chaidez’s bold yet inviting stage presence, her electrifying energy and powerful vocals — you can’t help but fall victim to her infectious showmanship.

L.A’s electro-rock veterans Shiny Toy Guns hit the stage and die hard fans burst with joy. The last time we caught the band live was at the Echoplex in 2014, and this evening’s show was just as ripe if not better.

Keyboardist Jeremy Dawson stepped behind his synthesizer and amped up the electro-rock sounds. Singer Carah Charnow eventually stepped out into the spotlight and stole it for the rest of the night.

Shiny Toy Guns ripped through their 80’s synth-pop/rock set with a captivating energy that kept the crowd dancing from start-to-finish. Shiny Toy Guns performed their crowd favorites like “Major Tom,” “You Are The One,” and of course “Le Disko.”
