Sleepless at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Once again, Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours — the extraordinary experiences taking over spaces in unusual ways for a late night trip to the senses has returned.  For Sleepless’ latest occasion, the Walt Disney Concert Hall was the protagonist of art installations, dance parties, visuals, and more. Starting from the outside, the building was adorned by projections mapped on the different layers of the structure. Once in, you were welcomed by a cloud of light followed by DJs Phatrick and Anthony Valadez taking over a large lobby for your dancing pleasure with KG Superstar hosting while light creatively occupied the walls.

If you got tired at some point no worries, the Music Center had you covered strategically placing bean bags to chill while getting a sound bath.  There was an electro-industrial dance party in the Founders Room curated by DubLab with sounds by Remy Marc, Sarah Toones, and Jamal Sharaf El Deen, along with projections and light sculptures by Suzy Poling.  The journey continued through long lines for a personal live performance in the listening rooms, where musicians serenaded you with a “Lost or Found” tune on the mood you chose.

There is SO much to say about “Sleepless,” but the best way to understand the night is to experience it yourself.
