Interpol at Los Angeles State Historic Park by Andrew Gomez

A wave of nostalgia struck Los Angeles music fans this weekend at the former FYF grounds in LA State Historic Park where Interpol performed their debut album Turn On the Bright Lights. The charming (and recently upgraded) venue brought back as many memories as the album being performed did. Fans are definitely expecting more shows to be hosted at the beloved home of FYF Fest. After sets from instrumental rock band Battles and experimental noise rock group Deerhunter, a mob of Interpol fans crammed themselves as close to the barricade as humanly can while others in the back spread across the grounds to enjoy the set in a more chill environment. This particular performance from Interpol was a great opportunity to experience an incredible album from start-to-finish and enjoy some early cuts that have fallen off Interpol’s usual setlist. In between songs, vocalist/guitarist Paul Banks addressed the audience and called Los Angeles their second home which is why the album performances were only here in Los Angeles and New York. The album was followed by a six-song encore of hits with “Slow Hands,” “All the Rage Back Home” and “Evil.” As said before, LA State Historic park has held down some unforgettable events in the past and another this weekend, hoping various promoters can bring more to this venue soon!
