Keeping the warm Los Angeles spirit going, The Belasco Theatre had a night of reggae celebrating Damien “Jr Gong” Marley’s new album Stony Hill. Tickets sold out since way before the show yet people kept arriving in hopes to get in.  The son of Bob Marley represented the family’s legacy with a powerful performance. Keeping it roots and blended with a dash of dancehall, the music was off the hook and this night was one to be lived.

After almost a decade since his last album the new material was eagerly expected.  Damian Marley’s performance started with the intro of his latest album “Stony Hill”, blending it up with his father’s classics reaching a climax when covering “Is this Love” and ending with bangers from the previous album Welcome to Jamrock.  Charged with humane messages raising political awareness, contemporary beats and classic reggae combined, Damian Marley made the crowd move.

Kabaka Pyramid did an excellent opening set and near the end joined the brothers Damian and surprise guest Stephen Marley for a memorable night. The Stony Hill promo tour continues and this album is a must-listen.
