Monday night was without a doubt one of the best of the year thus far. Fans came in pairs and checked their hearts at the doors. Our favorite Canadian twins brought their show to the beautiful Ace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles. In celebration of their fifth studio record, The Con, Tegan and Sara Quin began a tour for the 10th anniversary of the seminal album. The 2007 release has grown more and more influential over the years and continues to hold a very special place in fans’ hearts.

Tegan and Sara performed the record in its entirety which had fans swooning endlessly. Along with the sold -out theatre, I sank deep into my chair as the emotional inspirations behind the record seemed so present. Tegan and Sara ripped through song after song in acoustic which couldn’t have sounded any more raw and grand in such a gorgeous venue. Don’t think for one second that the jokesters withheld their humor for another occasion. The twins had their well known casual convos with each other and the crowd throughout the night. Whether the topic was briefly on forgetting song lyrics or Sara’s cats — the sisterly banter couldn’t have been any more entertaining. As with any Tegan and Sara show, fans truly felt like their best friends were up on stage performing for them and only them. The girls also were more than grateful to their fans (family) for the continued support over their 20 year career. The authenticity of these musicians shone so bright as they expressed their love and appreciation as well as thanked each and every attendee for their ticket purchase. A dollar from each ticket went straight to the Tegan and Sara Foundation which fights for justice among the LGBTQ community. The twins couldn’t be more thankful for the support they received as members of the community themselves. I don’t believe these two could be more beautiful human beings and everyone in attendance absolutely felt the magic shared over the course of the two hours spent in Downtown Los Angeles that evening.
