A Black Pistol Fire show is always something to mark on one’s calendar most importantly because it will probably sell out (as it did Saturday night at the Troubadour in West Hollywood) and you definitely don’t want to miss it. The two piece plays something like old timey blues and rock-n-roll on a dirty porch or back bar performed by a tasmanian devil and a honey badger. Kevin McKeown (guitar/vocals) flies from one end of the stage to the other and off the drum kit with reckless abandon summoning crowds to catch him in trust falls, while Eric Owen hammers away on the drums like a caveman. You will leave elated, showered in sweat, and with some minor hearing damage thinking THIS is what live music is all about. Cobi opened the show with some heart wrenching vocals that likely caught the ear of some angels in heaven.
