At the end of 2017, when the Lodge Room in Highland Park announced [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgWnrIC8X-k width=300 height=280 anchor=Khruangbin]
coming up in March, the show immediately sold-out.  The demand was so great that two more shows were added and here we are. It is March and last night was the first out of three continuous nights of mesmerizing psychedelic indie rock hosted at this Highland Park venue that has been showcasing top-notch acts.

Twin jazz duo [video_lightbox_youtube video_id=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pAYPXH57kI width=300 height=280 anchor=Mattson 2] 2 was an opening treat. Between jazz and rock with guitars and percussion, it was a nice surprise to discover these brothers. They performed their own interpretation of Japanese covers that left the audience fascinated. It meshed perfectly with the main dish.

The Texan trio Khruangbin has a spellbinding presence. Influenced by Thai Funk and mainly instrumental, their performance was captivating and their sounds unique. When using vocals there was an additional dash of artistry to their hypnotic sounds. Their new material “Con Todo el Mundo” had great expectation and their delivery was on point. They even did some hip-hop renditions that really got the crowd going.

Khruangbin has a long way ahead of them. With them already selling out shows in major cities such as Los Angeles,  Khruangbin’s growth is worth looking forward to. There are two more sold-out nights ahead at the Lodge Room, hopefully, you got a ticket.
