Nightmares on Wax, one of the pioneers of the British bleep and bass era recently released new music and came to share it with Los Angeles at the Fonda Theatre. George Evelyn, the main man behind N.O.W. has blended live instrumentation, beats and vocals on his latest production “Shape The Future” giving it a fresh twist.
The stage was set up as a chill living room where N.O.W. came to create and sing along with British singer Sadie Walker, drummer Grant Kershaw and singer Leigh Kenny. The ritual started by cleaning the space with sage. It was dim as if set up to watch hallucinating visuals on the screen to the beat of trip-hop. You could barely see their faces, but you could dazzle to their sounds. Performing a little bit of everything from the early 90’s to his latest production, the sage in the stage continued and the sounds felt familiar and timeless, but overall, relevant. The audience got down with all time favorites “Citizen Kane”, “You Wish” and already knew “Back to Nature” from the latest production. I can say now that I was saged by Nightmares on Wax that one night that I could not see his face but purchased his vinyl.
